I have interned in government quite a bit (mostly focusing on social policy), and always thought I would attempt to go to law school after I finished my BA, but this social work question has been burning in the back of my mind for months. Although I have volunteered in the field throughout my undergrad, I know it's not enough. I've thought about doing a one year social service worker certificate at a communitycollege and working as a community worker to gain experience in the field. I've also seen that some schools here in Canada offer . Sometimes I think I could do a post- degree BSW and then the MSW later on. But I'm not made of money and don't want to spend an entire decade in school. Would doing a college level certificate and working in the field for a bit be enough preparation for an MSW? Or would a post- degree BSW be a better option? I've even thought of doing both, because who knows if I would be accepted into a post- degree BSW program without enough relevant experience.. Any insights would be appreciated, as clearly I am confused about all of this. I know that for a lot of SW schools it's not so much about grades as it is about suitability for the career and experience.. BSW Online program, Post.
